About Mical Hutson
Hi. I’m Mical. I’m an experiential marketing generalist. What does that mean? It means I’ve been connecting experience-based organizations with customers. How? With words, branding, design, and strategy. It started in a remote region of Colorado called North Park. I owned and operated a whitewater rafting company on a wilderness river. Two years after buying it, I sold it at a 221.6% profit. I stayed in the outdoor recreation industry and worked for a sportsman’s lodge and ranch with an Orvis-endorsed fly shop for 10 years, helping the original team with the start-up. I also managed a herd of 30+ horses there. But that’s what we call a side-note. I have an active brain that needs to stay busy, so I started writing and photographing for an alternative newspaper. I covered my passion – the arts and self-discovery – I interviewed an artist every month and showcased their process in a 2,000 word column. That’s when an Arts Council Board President approached me to help them. I discovered that the arts is like working on a remote 25-square mile ranch in that neither one of them have much of a marketing budget, so being a photographer, designer, video editor, and writer with an ability to muck about in the front end of a website, set up a google ads account, create killer social media ads, and keep an eye on campaigns and google analytics was a range of skills that led to knocking revenue goals out of the park. I’ve been in the arts ever since. Being in the arts also means you need a rich partner, a trust fund, or a side-hustle to make a living, so I’ve been freelancing as a photographer and video producer. That brings us back to square one. Hi. I’m Mical. I’m an experiential marketing generalist. Do you have a project? Let’s talk.

“Mical is an exceptional Strategic Director and mentor. Her hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm is infectious and she is a pleasure to work for. She always listens to my concerns, she always seeks to push me to do better, try harder, and think bigger. Mical has a fantastic ability to identify and foster the strengths and interests in her team and I feel deeply indebted to her for the support, confidence, and guidance that she still gives me.”

THE CLEAN HOUSE by Sarah Ruhl
THE CLEAN HOUSE by Sarah Ruhl POSTER DESIGN We kept the hand lettering of the original designs by illustrator Jamie Hogan. I posed actress Matilde Jennifer Paredes (member AEA) in front of a hand-painted canvas holding an apple, a metaphor in the play. Added some photoshopping to give it additional depth and drama. Poster for […]

NATIVE GARDENS by Karen Zacarías
NATIVE GARDENS by Karen Zacarías POSTER DESIGN This photo session on greenscreen started as an entirely different concept. And it bombed.
